Yesterday I had an ultrasound and it was a great opportunity to check for the gender. My doctor was so nice to do this a few weeks early! As she began the ultrasound, the baby was all curled up in a ball with his/her legs tightly closed. Doctor Gondy tried for a long time to get the baby to move and reposition but Baby Phill was not having it. He/she just kept kicking and closing legs right back into position (not to mention the umbilical cord was between the baby's legs). Clearly, we have a very conservative baby! I guess we will try again in 3 weeks (20 weeks preg) when the gender ultrasound is actually supposed to take place. Shannon is so anxious to find out "what kind it is" (exact words). There goes telling the family for Christmas! Shucks...
How far along were some of you when you found out the gender?
Thought we would have some fun with the facial hair before shaving it for work! Here, he's all grown out on his days off:
Here, he's shaved just the chin and even left the little "fuzz" below his lip. He's trying not to laugh after looking in the mirror:Here, he's gotten rid of the fuzz and looks like a mean wrestler!
You know, the only facial hair allowed on the fire department is a mustache! Take a gander:
I made him shave that off! Don't worry.
New Phone
We just got the new Samsung Instinct- their version of the iphone. We love them! We originally bought them for $100 each. But, the day after Thanksgiving we happened to be in Sams Club again and saw that they were discounted to $50 each. Shannon, being the shmoozer he is, was able to get a $50 dollar refund on both of our phones since we had only bought ours a week earlier! Check it out:
I use my navigation a lot!
New Experience Went to the Ellen Degeneres Show live at Caesars Palace last Friday!
Well, if you want the real dirt on the event's drama go to Becca's blog! But, I must say that the waiting in line and the frustration was well worth it for me! Several other people were meant for those tickets, but I'm so glad that Becca invited me to go! It was so exciting being in a live audience and experiencing, "We're back in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!"
Pink and Bette Midler Guest Starred and they were fabulous! I love Pink's new album so that was such a treat to see her! And it just so happens that I'm going to see Bette at Caesars on Dec. 5th. I'm pumped up for that!
New Bump
This was a "before shot" at 6 weeks:
This is entering into my 15th week- 6 pounds attacking my belly!
If you refer to the "about me" section of "The Phills" blog, you will notice the following passage:
Although there are no chittlins yet, Mr. Phill insists that there will be an addition soon. The Mrs. is thinking she needs to figure out how to get men pregnant...
Sadly, I have exhausted my resources and my research stands firm that it is MY duty to get fat and go through excruciating pain in order to have a bundle of joy!
This is Shannon's favorite part of the story- HE WINS! All the arguments and excuses I have come up with pertaining to postponing children have failed. Result--> I'M
KNOCKED UP PREGGO IN THE FAMILY WAY CARRYING A BUN IN THE OVEN IMPREGNATED WITH CHILD EXPECTING CARRYING FETUS IN WOMB RECEIVING A TEMPORARY BOOB JOB EATING FOR TWO CHUBS HAVING A LITTLE TAX DEDUCTION EXPERIENCING A BUMP-IN-THE-FRONT MOTHER-TO-BE LOOKING PIGGY A MEMBER OF THE BABY- MAKING CLUB REPRODUCING CONTRIBUTING TO THE CENSUS WAITING FOR THE PATTER OF LITTLE FEET
AND THE BEST FOR LAST: I'M SPERMATIZED!
I am currently in my 13th week of pregnancy and glad to report I was only sick for barely a week! I feel great! I have been experiencing other symptoms though including extremely terrible acne. My grandmother thought I had chicken pox!
I have had two ultrasound appointments. My first appointment was at 8 weeks and the baby's heartbeat was 175BPM. I had a second ultrasound at 12 weeks and the baby's heartbeat was 152 BPM. The baby measured 2 inches in length. Everything looks great and healthy at this point and we are so excited to have an addition to our family! Went off the pill at the end of July and was spermatized in August. Shannon has some serious swimmers! Ok...maybe a little too much information. Baby Phill is due on MAY 27, 2008
Here are some cute ultrasounds...
Told my mother in a cute scrapbooked card for her birthday from Baby Phill! She looks way too young to be a mamaw!
Told Shannon's family like this... even though they didn't get it for SEVERAL minutes!
Well, just this past weekend Shannon, some great friends, and I journeyed out to good ol' Logandale, NV where we celebrated Moapa Valley Pirate Homecoming at the football game! The Pirates were victorious that Friday night. The weather was perfect with a little bit of a chill that made it perfect football weather....or marching band weather as I really call it! This time of year is when marching band season is coming to a close and the football game brought back so many memories. I have been reminiscing today with a few tears I must admit!
It is neat to think about the similarities that Moapa Valley High School and my High School share- the main similarity being our colors! Only the bold wear BLUE and GOLD! Just check out our school shirts:
Anyway... one similarity they do not share is Marching Band. When I think about all that my kids will miss out on living out west it makes me sad. This isn't a stab at anyone who grew up here and thinks that it's great, it's just that my kids will have to grow up completely different than I did which I think is sad. I wish they could experience all four seasons and all the fun and adventures that brings. And most importantly, if our children did want to be in band- they will have to experience the poorest quality out here. No offense to Nevadans, but band is something that is chuckled at and made fun of overall. Back home in states such as Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and Illinois, marching band is huge, exciting, and competitive. Marching Band takes up hours of kids weeks, lots of hard work and dedication, and is not considered the "dorky" thing to do. Here, it is just a joke. Because I am feeling nostalgic, humor me and watch this clip of one of my favorite professional marching bands back east from Illinois. A show is about 10 minutes. If you don't want to spare that much time- just skip ahead and watch from 7:20 to the end because that is the most exciting part.
This is what marching band is like back east. Enjoy my passion that will be sadly missed by my children! : (
I'm so excited that I get to go home and attend my brother's last performance with Muhlenberg North Marching Stars at State Finals on November 1st! Go Stars!
Handbag Planet is launching a new purse website on October 15th and they want to celebrate by offering a chance to win a gorgeous purse for free! 24 purses will be given away in 24 hours. So, hurry before the 15th and enter a chance to win a lovely bag!
Family Home Evening Rocked last night. We have a young couple's FHE every monday and we always have a blast. It's the highlight of my week. Yesterday was the first time I've really tried to play any kind of game system since Super Nintendo! I am so anti-video games for a few reasons and thought that Rock Band would be lame. After combination FHE/MNF (Monday Night Football), the crew decided to start a band- Rock Band! I loved the drums! I felt like a Nintendo nerd like my brother! I look forward to FHE next Monday so I can Rock the drums again. I think I'm almost ready for tour. haha.
I wanted to share with you a couple things that I did this past week at school (Academy of Hair Design). I only have two weeks left by the way! I am so excited! I can't wait!
